Hi,

would anyone be interested in porting these over to xwidget?

ImageImageImageImage

Source

• Please note, that the hands can change color, depending on load.
• I personally prefer the 2D version (see settings) as it matches to the simplicity.
• The "modern" hands like on the pictures above look nicer than the "classic" hands too (see settings).
• Very interesting to see one gauge for "Process", where the user can monitor the CPU usage of one particular program / service.
Imagine being able to have one indicator (gauge) for each major program / service - but can this be ported over at all?

Pure & Simple

What a pitty, single processes can't be monitored (yet).
Yeah 2D or 3D, doesn't really matter. Do you think they need a (tiny) scale?
I like how you called them: "cute" .. Image ... "Cute Gauges"

Something like this:

I'm really unsure if this looks better or not. Would need to hear other people's opinion.
Looks like there is really no space for numbers (0 to 10).

Hmm...I prefer the original design. I like this clean look..

Oh yes! I just finished the first one! :D (with the colour function of course as the original)
..and as u know for the rest of them I'll need only to change the codes.
So wait for a new post soon..! ;)

I'm now working on the switch animation of the hand and because of the colour function the high values=smoothness ruins the timing with the text % below...So I need to find a perfect value for both of them....

Cov, I sent you an e-mail the cpu gauge for check the problem... When the cpu makes these "leaps" the issue appears. You'll see..
I'm afraid that the needle shouldn't be smooth.. almost at all..!

Hm, to be honest, I wouldn't be sad if the needle doesn't change color.
I have received it ... hang on.

Hmm, there are some tiny hick ups, but I would not mind though.
Actually I quite like the needle changing to red once utilization goes up.

Look here: click

By the way, is it ok that the needle (left) looks little bit rougher than the original (right)?

For the "rough" I'll try to improve it with GIMP adding a little external blur..

Now for the needle yes it could be great if we keep the colour function. Damm! I'll try to play with the switch animation modes and values to find the right point. It will be great if you can help me in this part making some tests too! Only remember to change the values on 3 rotators (same for all 3)

Come on!! Ok:
Right click-> edit-> first click on the rotator 1, 2 ,3 and then on the right search for "Animate" tab (second from the end) and open the "switch animation" submenu. Try to make some combinations with the 3 "menus", duration-dynamic effect-effect ocassion.
That's all! After enter the same values for all three rotators press "save" on top (there is a bug on Designer that sometimes not memorize the changes and then "Debug" to test in real time the widget! ;)

I have tried a lot of combinations, but I fail to see much of a difference really.
The problem seems to be, that the needle sometimes jumps, right? Looks like a hard one this time.

I had a crazy idea..!!! :D
Let's change the needle with something else....
I don't know if you'll like it but is a idea!
Open your mail and tell me...

Edit: we can change the blue background with a black/grey for more "hard" modern look...

I checked it and ... wow hey, that was pretty crazy!
It's not bad but I'm missing something and I don't know what it is.
How about extendig the range from 180 to 360 degrees (or less)?
Of course without needle. I's just an experiment, so not a finished idea.

Image

Number values can still be in the center.
Question: where is the starting point?

Hmm...The problem is with bigger angle the colour of the circle is "gradient", but unfortunately the designer doesn't support 100% this function. So with 360o the circle will start and end with green... :(
only if we find a ready image/texture with this look, that I'll put it in place instead the manual gradient colour...

Hey, found this one. But needs to be calibrated first, .... click

Edit: ok scratch that, too hard to find the right gradient.

Edit 2: What if we change the 360 degrees to 259?

This should be ok!!! Don't worry about "calibration" because in the designer I can rotate the image. ;)

One last try:
Image

we can change the font of course...

I think it looks alright!

Next challenge would be, to have 4 different circles next to each other within one single gauge (one for each core of a quad) Image

Ok..I'll try to "fix" it a bit more but I'm not 100% convinced for post it/them..
Damm. The initial idea was pretty good.... But we tried!

You've done your best trying.
I think it's not too bad. Maybe we give it a few days.
One of us (or someone else) might come up with another idea.
