Hi Tony, I also get an anti-virus warning during install, version 1.08 - the original executable scans as clean, but during installation "InstallManager.exe" attempts to download something else via http://www.BLOCKp1fctodl.us/first_call_v20.php (remove the BLOCK if you need to investigate that url) and *that* gets flagged as malware and blocked. Oddly, despite the installer crashing after this happened, the program has still run and appeared on my desktop (I just have no way of knowing if it's half-broken somehow). As an aside, I seriously dislike programs that require an internet connection during install - partly for this kind of potential problem - especially if the requirement (and reason) is not mentioned upfront. (edits: clarify the aside, mangle the url for protection against casual clicking, name the process that calls the url) |

Amrynel wrote: Hi Tony... Hi Amrynel, Thanks for your feedback, The Installation package contains the optional third-party software, not virus,if you do not need please uncheck it. This can help XLaunchpad to maintain free and continue to develop. thanks. Or you can uninstall the third-party software from your ControlPanel--Uninstall Software Or you can uses the portable version of XLaunchpad ,not need install ,just unzip and run XLaunchpad.exe http://xwidget.com/download_xlp2.php |

Hi Tony, Please note that the installation package did not offer a checkbox for any optional third-party software. It got up to a window with the title of "InstallManager Setup" and a dialog of "Installing": "Please wait while your application is being installed", the window showed a blank frame with "Agree" and "Disagree" below it, the antivirus triggered and blocked the url call, and the program "InstallManager.exe" crashes. Checking the list of installed programs also shows no third-party software, only "XLaunchPad Ver1.08". Btw, the blocked url now ends in v21.php instead of v20.php that it had when I last posted. Thankyou for the tip about the portable version, I will give that a try. |

AVG - Report on a false detection by AVG at http://samplesubmit.avg.com/au-en/false-detection AVG - How To Handle Suspicious False Positive Detection? at http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-forums?sec=thread&act=show&id=395 - If AVG still detects the malware and you suspect a file to be a false positive, test the file at Jotti Virusscan http://virusscan.jotti.org/ or alternatively at VirusTotal http://www.virustotal.com/ to check for detection ratio between several AntiVirus vendors. If the result points to possible false positive, archive (zip, arc, tar etc) the file using a password and email a copy to virus@avg.com with a brief description as well as the password you used to archive it with. Depending on the load of Virus analysis, you will receive a response to your query soon. Hope this helps |

Unfortunately, the monetize PUP that is bundled with xwidget setup.exe is malware that attempts to install other PUP malware such as PUP.mystartsearch and PUP.anysend as well as PUP.conduit onto your computer. The results of which are described here: http://bbs.xwidget.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5499 |
