i saw somethings happening in developing of xwidget that i wanted to tell for a long time, the problem is: there are some changes happening to engine of xwidget that makes compatibility problems with older widgets in new versions examples: > changing of tags names > change of tag format from % to new ${} > auto-change of widgets to new tag format > removing of custom mouse hover thing > ... just i wanted to ask: shouldn't there be a compatibility feature to force the widgets to use specific version's engine, instead of: >changing the xwidget engine and the cores suddenly >and changing of widgets automatically without notifying or asking user to do so if these behavior continues i think: > more compatibility problems happens that will need manual editing of older widgets by users > sudden changes make problem for widget developers to find out new changes and learn and go for new formatting suddenly |

Using the latest version of XWidget, all the old tags names/symbols are converted automatically to the new ones, so even the old widgets work fine! If you read the changelog of the last versions you will see that this issue is fixed. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2 The last version also supports the old xw package file type. So there is no compatibility problem. Tested a lot of times running old widgets. |
