I noticed the same in XWidget Designer (v1.8.8.1111).
Nothing happens if I click on "Custom Tooltips", and "Tooltips" are missing in the tree too (above Components/Cores).

Also a bit strange...
If I put a "|" in Hint, for example: ${moonRise1}|${moonSet1}, the | (vertical bar) will be displayed as a <CRLF> when the tooltip is shown :?: (but that behaviour seems to exist also before, a bit odd anyway...)

Don't know what exactly happend, but Tooltips are shown back in the list :)
I'm quite sure they were "lost" even after I restarted Xwidget.
(No idea if a Windows restart solved the problem for me)

edit: I was a little bit too optimistic... :(

The tooltip problem is still present on another system (both running 1.8.8.1111). Restarting Xwidget/PC does not help.
I even downloaded the portable version again, run it without any modification from the unpacked directory but the entry Tooltip in the Designer is not shown (and clicking "Custom Tooltip" is doing nothing).

Any ideas :?:

Addition: Even worse than I thought....

Existing customized Tooltips will be show properly (on System 2), but as soon as I load a widget with enabled "Coustom Tooltips" into the Designer and
debug or run it, the XWidget Designer (on System 2) will radically delete the complete section <tooltip enabled="true"> ... </tooltip> from main.xul :o

I think that is very bad (and should not happen!).

I use the v1.8.8.1106 and the tooltip is always there. No problems at all! Windows 7 ultimate x32

i think this is a bug since the latest xdesigner will automatically delete tooltip section, which will crash xwidget in android system,if your xdesigner is in android mode.
i will tell Tony about this.

Thanks for your feedback.
As said above, I have two systems (both running Windows 7 X64, XWidget 1.8.8.1111 portable).
One (System 1) is working fine, the other (System 2) does not, at least not the Designer.

I tested now several XWDesigner.exe versions on System 2:
- 1.8.8.1025 (25.10.2013) works fine.
- 1.8.8.1026 (31.10.2013) works fine.
- 1.8.8.1106 (06.11.2013) works fine.
- 1.8.8.1111 (12.11.2013) does not show entry "Tooltip" and then even deletes the existing customized Tooltip section!

Maybe Tony can say something about the changes between build 1106 and 1111.

In the meanwhile I will use 1.8.8.1106 of the Designer.

edit:
Thanks qiancang.

by the way,1.8.8.1111 is not the latest version indeed.
Chinese version is always newer than English version.
maybe you should give the Chinese version patch a try.

Many thanks for your help, qiancang.

I've tried to follow your instructions but could not find an orange button to download (and not the string "普通下载" either).
All I got was a file called 酷鱼桌面最新测试补丁.rar (which only contains XWidget build 1.8.8.1111).

Which version/build is the most recent and is the XWDesigner.exe bug fixed?

Here is the XWidget's program file folder extracted from my pc. Is the v1.8.8.1106 where all work ok for me:
Close the program (right click on icon tray and select "Exit") and the copy/overwrite ALL the file inside the XWidget's folder in Program Files.
(one thing that I learned all these years is that the latest version is not always the best and in some cases is better have an old than a not properly working version... ;))

Many thanks, jimking.
Maybe I was not clear enough in my second last post, but I have tested all the last four versions right before my post of testing, so I already have them (and I'm back on XWDesigner.exe build 1106).
You are right. And I have learned quite early to keep previous versions since I had my first PC, which was way back in the early 1990's. (And with XWidget it seems even more important ;) )

Because of...

Are we talking about tooltips which is the same as "hint" ? If so it is a big YES from meme
The text of the tooltip or hint can be set and updated by a tag or by code with text1.hint = "Anything you want to display"
The tool tip is not used as ofter as it could, I use it a lot to display additional information that can not fit on the widget.
Details on things like weather, disk, battery, network and many others.
Please don't remove this function :( ... :)

i never have anything to do with it, so i don't have any idea about it,
maybe better to have it as an object

----------------

but about mouse hover tooltip (hint):

1. in the code there is a [Showhint] for enabling mouse hover with true or false
>it would be better to be [hint.enabled] like other properties since it will get true or false

2. it will be good to have a function as [Showhint()] or a command as [!hint]
>to display tooltip on object when an event happens or when calling for it without mouse hover

3. it will be good to have tooltip for autocomplete comments
>most of the comments in autocomplete will not fit in screen within one line, so better to have a tooltip to display the full comment
>>and also this way we could add some examples to autocomplete to help more in using codes
>>>and if you do it; not only display it when mouse over but also display it when it selected by keyboard

----------------

Please get the custom tooltips back, it breaks the design.
Currently using the binding tooltip control, and that seems fine.

I had noticed that tooltips had broken, my previously attractive and subtle tooltips have been replaced by big round ugly versions. I had thought it was my coding/configuration that had broken the things. The current tooltips are very unsubtle and aren't right for Windows tooltips. They are too invasive.

I am now using the binding tooltip control for an important tooltip but they are clumsy and awkward to use.
"Custom Tooltip" does not work for me...
