Topic moved to the right section (you posted in the Android section) 1) Yes, you can use js codes from other widgets. 2) For the rss core no need to use any js. The core has all the necessary elements. DO NOT FORGET THE RIGHT CLICK OPTIONS THAT ALL THE CORES HAVE. There are a lot of widgets that use rss in the gallery (and in my gallery on DA) to check how it works. Check the RSS widget/s from this suite for example: http://jimking.deviantart.com/art/Rusty ... -535164731 Note that some rss feeds not work though (depends on the extension that the rss link has) |

Thanks for moving this thread to its rightful place, I had navigating problems the day I posted this. I try to write with very precise words so I'm not mis-understood -so- please bear with me. Anyway, let's go back to my original question. Help? No matter what I do to get the feed to update (refresh) it doesn't. And, you don't want to hear the words coming out of my mouth when I'm working on this problem. Its been four days now that I've been working on this issue, seriously my patience is running thin. I've used other feed widgets as examples, none of them are working for my creation. I don't want to give up on this -but- if I continue to have this issue, I just may do so. Which may result in the dis-continuation of me promoting XWidget in any way or form. I don't want to do that. (AVG is still detecting XWidget as a virus) I allowed it on my system anyway, regardless of its buggy behavior. Anyway, please help, I will be greatly thankful - ![]() So again, will somebody please take a look at this widget and please show me what I'm missing. The Google tech feed page at http://news.google.com/news/section?cf=all&pz=1&ned=us&topic=tc is active 24-7 so I know its not the problem with the feed. I want to leave the one channel and add no more, I just want the refresh (image) button to refresh the feed. Thank you. - ![]() |

Quote: (AVG is still detecting XWidget as a virus) I allowed it on my system anyway, regardless of its buggy behavior. This is a false alarm. Don't worry, XWidget is 100% safe! For the rest: 1) Your link for the news.google is wrong. You have to enter the RSS LINK, not the website link! Here is the right one for the rss: http://news.google.com/news?cf=all&hl=e ... output=rss 2) I made a demo widget to check how it works: (you can use any component instead of the button and assign the same function or you can add extra right click options for each rss title/description)

Actually the link is wrong, I copied that link from the address bar. Here is the link I meant to paste, that I'm using for my creation - http://news.google.com/news?pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&topic=tc&output=rss Big bummer for me I pasted the wrong link, cause it detoured the real reason I posted for help, and that's the problem with forums, 98% of the time help never comes. - ![]() Thanks jimking, I know its not a virus, I tested it myself upteen times, just saying AVG is still detecting it as such. |

There is one difference in your test widget (thanks) you have a button for refresh, I have an image for refresh. Does that matter? |

Ok, I just found out the feeds are updating, its the feed text fields that aren't changing (see screenshot. Use the image I provided to see how the "Hint" is different from the RSS Item. The RSS Item is updating when I press the "Refresh button. However, the RSS Item text field is not updating. I've tried 100 times to find a fix, I'm unable to find the problem. I think its in the script, and this is where I'm struggling. I understand this is a personal problem, and I intend to understand the script. It would be nice though, if I could get a little nudge (help) and assistance. Attachment:

As I told you, "you can use any component instead of the button and assign the same function" I don't undestand which is screenshot, but you can do it by yourself. Edit your comment, scroll down and press "delete file" next to the attached file/s. ![]() |

AST_GMS wrote: Hi jimking, I edited the post with the Atomic symbol icon. Do you mind taken a look at it? - ![]() I downloaded it.. Nice work! ![]() Some observations though: 1) Edit the date format (the text appears cut off) 2) I don't think that the "cursor->none" for the sidebar components is good. I suggest you to use the Default. 3) You need to edit the slide function of the first "button" so when you press it, with the second panel open, both panels will close. 4) I know that is still a beta version, but keep in mind that the default image (the image when the widget is loading) should be with the slidepanel IN. That's all for now |

Thanks, I'll take a look at your suggestions. - ![]() I'm still having problems getting the RSS Text fields to change when the RSS item updates. - Yesterday I got so confused I gave up. Refreshing the mind can and does work - ![]() |

I don't know, maybe a bad connection between XWidget-rss site.. (?) The default value of the rss core for automatic update is 30min. (you can check that at the core's tab clicking on it) Have you checked if they update after a certain of time. You have also keep in mind that most of the rss sites that by default they don't update their data every 5 min. It's impossible.. |

The RSS item is updating. The text isn't. I found out that the RSS item is updating by the "Hint". So, after the RSS item updated, I moused to the RSS item and the "Hint" gave the updated RSS item -but- the text had not changed. That's the best I can explain it - ![]() And, after I get this issue fixed I can take the next step by adding additional RSS channels (I hope). I know its a weird way to go about it, but its how I have to learn most of the time. Thanks, |
